Dr Mary Norris has over 30 years experience in women’s health in a multidisciplinary capacity. Originally trained as a nurse and midwife through the Royal North Shore Hospital in Sydney, Dr Norris attained a Bachelor of Health Science (Nursing) through Charles Sturt University (Mitchell) in the early 1990’s. With the aim of training as an Obstetrician and Gynaecologist, Dr Norris applied to study medicine at the University of Newcastle.
As a medical graduate in 1999, Dr Norris gained postgraduate experience as a junior doctor at the John Hunter Hospital and the Orange Base Hospital before undertaking specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology through the John Hunter Hospital Campus. Dr Norris became a Fellow of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (RANZCOG) in 2007.
Complementing her obstetric and gynaecology training, Dr Norris has over 10 years experience in obstetric and gynaecology ultrasound having attained a Diploma of Diagnostic Ultrasound (DDU) through the Australasian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine (ASUM) in 2010. Dr Norris has gained valuable scanning experience working as a staff specialist within the Maternal Fetal Medicine Units at the Nepean and John Hunter Hospital and the Acute Gynaecology Service at the John Hunter Hospital. Dr Norris’ current position as a part time staff specialist at the John Hunter Hospital allows Dr Norris to keep up to date with the management of complex obstetric cases and exposure to high risk obstetric and gynaecology ultrasound. 

Dr Norris is actively involved in RANZCOG training and her affiliation with the University of Newcastle also allows Dr Norris to be directly involved in the education of undergraduate medical students.
On a personal note, Dr Norris is the proud mother of two sons and she enjoys travelling, snow skiing and keeping fit.

Renaye Valaire

Renaye grew up in Warners Bay and after graduating with a Diploma of Applied Science Medical Radiation Technology, Renaye pursued her interest in ultrasound and gained a Graduate Diploma of Medical Ultrasonography. 

After 21 years of practicing general ultrasonography, Renaye now subspecialises in Obstetrics and Gynaecology and Breast ultrasound. Renaye commenced employment with Dr Norris in 2010 and continues to provide a high standard of ultrasound scanning for women of the Hunter region. 

Complementing Renaye’s work with Dr Norris are Renaye’s public appointments as a sonographer within the Maternal Fetal Medicine Unit at the John Hunter Hospital and Breastscreen Australia. 

Renaye has a keen interest in medical research, teaching and high risk obstetric scanning. On a personal level, Renaye is married and the mother of 2 children and enjoys a very busy family life.
sonya simpson

Sonya Simpson

Sonya completed Radiography qualifications at Newcastle University followed by Ultrasound studies through the University of Sydney. The ensuing years have seen Sonya gain valuable experience working with fetal medicine specialists in Sydney before relocating to Newcastle.
 
With 25 years of ultrasound experience Sonya brings a wealth of ultrasound knowledge and a very high standard of patient care. She enjoys seeing the faces of expectant parents when they see their fetus on the screen and is happy to explain the images for them to gain the most from their scan.
 
Sonya is married with 2 children and enjoys traveling and keeping fit.

Rebecca McAllister

Rebecca McAllister



Rebecca grew up locally in Warners Bay and worked for many years as a veterinary nurse before joining Dr Norris’ practice in 2010 as a medical secretary. 

With a sound background in business administration, Rebecca is a valuable member of the team providing a warm and personable approach to her managerial and secretarial duties. 

Rebecca is currently on maternity leave with her 3rd child.
Candice

Candice Ebrill



We welcome Candice who has recently joined our team. Candice is Newcastle born and bred and brings to the practice several years of experience as a medical secretary primarily in the field of Cardiology. Candice is married with 2 young children and enjoys going to the beach, camping and bushwalking with her family and her dog.
Nicole Davies


Nicole Davies



Nicole grew up in Newcastle and has a strong background in business administration and secretarial work. 

Nicole was employed for many years as a legal secretary before taking leave to have her family. 

Since re-entering the workforce, Nicole has enjoyed secretarial positions in health related fields and commenced employment with Dr Norris in early 2015. 

Nicole is married with 2 young children and enjoys overseas travel.
